Pune to Leh Ladakh – Complete Bike Trip Plan
Pune se Leh Ladakh ke liye kaafi long motorcycle ride hogi. Meri recommendation hai Pune → Indore → Jaipur → Amritsar → Srinagar → Kargil → Leh, aur return mein Manali → Chandigarh → Pune route, provided Manali–Leh highway return ke waqt officially open ho.
Is trip ke liye main 23–25 days rakhne ki salah dunga. Sirf Leh pahunchna goal nahi hona chahiye—acclimatisation, Ladakh sightseeing aur safe return bhi plan mein hone chahiye.
1. Day-wise route plan – 24 days
Day | Route / activity | Approx. distance |
|---|---|---|
1 | Pune → Ahmedabad | 650–670 km |
2 | Ahmedabad → Udaipur | 260–270 km |
3 | Udaipur → Jaipur | 395 km |
4 | Jaipur → Amritsar | 650–680 km |
5 | Amritsar → Jammu | 215 km |
6 | Jammu → Srinagar | 270 km |
7 | Srinagar rest and sightseeing | Local |
8 | Srinagar → Sonamarg → Zoji La → Drass → Kargil | 200–210 km |
9 | Kargil → Lamayuru → Leh | 215–220 km |
10 | Leh acclimatisation and rest | Local |
11 | Leh local sightseeing | Local |
12 | Leh → Khardung La → Nubra Valley | 120–130 km |
13 | Nubra → Turtuk → Nubra | 160–180 km |
14 | Nubra → Pangong via Shyok route | 170–200 km |
15 | Pangong → Chang La → Leh | 160–170 km |
16 | Leh → Chumathang → Hanle | 160–170 km |
17 | Hanle → Umling La → Hanle (optional) | 100–150 km |
18 | Hanle → Tso Moriri / Korzok | 150–190 km |
19 | Tso Moriri → Tso Kar → Sarchu | 180–220 km |
20 | Sarchu → Jispa → Keylong → Manali | 220–250 km |
21 | Manali → Chandigarh | 290–310 km |
22 | Chandigarh → Jaipur | 500–550 km |
23 | Jaipur → Udaipur | 395 km |
24 | Udaipur → Pune | 650–700 km |
Note: Yeh ambitious itinerary hai. Pune–Ahmedabad aur Jaipur–Amritsar jaise days bahut lambe hain. Agar tum relaxed ride chahte ho, 26–28 days rakho aur long days ko break karo. Total circuit roughly 5,000–5,500 km ho sakta hai, Ladakh ke local detours ke hisaab se.
2. Ladakh ke must-visit places
Hanle
Dark sky and astrophotographyUmling La
Optional high-altitude ride, subject to access and health3. Estimated budget
Assuming one rider, own motorcycle, 24 days and budget/mid-range stays:
Expense | Estimated cost |
|---|---|
Fuel | ₹14,000–18,000 |
Accommodation | ₹14,000–20,000 |
Food and water | ₹8,000–11,000 |
Bike servicing and repairs | ₹4,000–6,000 |
Permits and miscellaneous | ₹2,000–4,000 |
Estimated total | ₹42,000–59,000 |
Keep another ₹10,000–15,000 as emergency reserve. This is a planning estimate; actual fuel cost depends on your bike's mileage and fuel prices.
4. Best time to ride
June: Some high passes and roads may still have snow or seasonal restrictions.
July–August: Generally the most practical period for a full Ladakh road circuit.
September: Beautiful autumn scenery, but colder nights and increasing closure risk.
November onwards: Not recommended for a normal full motorcycle circuit.
The Leh District's official travel page gives the usual Srinagar–Leh highway season as May to November/December and Manali–Leh as May/June to September/October. These are typical windows, not guaranteed opening dates.
5. Current road status – 3 November 2026
Manali–Leh: Officially closed for all vehicular movement due to winter conditions.
Akashvani NewsSrinagar–Leh: The official Ladakh PWD page shows a road-status entry dated 2 November, but the status itself is blank. Do not assume it is open.
HomeNubra, Pangong, Hanle and Tso Moriri: Check local administration and police advisories before each leg.

If the Manali route is closed when you travel, return through Leh → Kargil → Srinagar → Jammu → Rajasthan → Pune instead. Keep buffer days for snow, rain and road closures.
6. Bike preparation and safety
Get a full service before leaving Pune.
Check tyres, brake pads, chain, clutch, battery and engine oil.
Carry puncture kit, portable inflator, basic tools and spare fuses.
Carry thermal layers, waterproof riding gear and insulated gloves.
Keep fuel stops planned; remote Ladakh stretches have limited fuel availability.
Spend at least two nights acclimatising in Leh before higher-altitude rides.
Avoid Umling La if you have altitude symptoms; descend and seek medical help if symptoms worsen.
